I could pretty much echo what Seth has said, though Zyle does weigh about 5 pounds more than he remembered! It was hard walking through there and thinking about our happy baby and putting him through all this with the possibilities of it not working out well. Is it really worth it?
Dropping him off at school afterwards, I ran into my co-president for parent council, who is a nurse practitioner at CHOA. She reassured me that "those guys could do this surgery in their sleep," they are so used to it. And she urged me not to compare Zyle to any other children that we see.
