Blood Donation

Since Zyle, Pam, and I are all the same blood type (A positive), Pam asked about us donating blood specifically for him. Sure, they just had to fax a specific form to the Red Cross. The neurosurgeon only wanted 1 unit, but both Pam and I gave designated donations anyway.

We have to give blood more than 10 days out so that it can get processed and sent to the right place, but also the blood is only good for so long. So there is a limited window. And we can only give at certain locations, and only between 10:30 and 3:30. Yikes! That's going to mess up my work schedule.

We went on different days (Seth Tue 9, Pam Wed 10), but both of us had long slow processes. For both of us it took an hour before we actually got stuck. And for me, they had to use my right arm, which has a squirrelly vein. Even after they stuck my arm, the blood kept stopping so they had to pull the needle out a bit, or push it back in. Oy, that makes my toes curl and my shoulders cringe just thinking about it! I've got a nice bruise on my arm for the experience.

But the most important thing is that we got lots of free nutter butters. NO! :-) The most important thing is that we both were able to donate blood that is designated for Zyle.
