Going to bed early meant some good rest for all of us, despite Zyle wanting to play in the middle of the night! I spent 2/3rds of yesterday with nausea and a slight fever, which we alternately attributed to all the stress leading up to the surgery, the uncomfortable sleep at the hospital, or food poisoning. Seth packed us up to go home, so when I find the camera and the cord for uploading, I'll put some more pics on the blog.
Today, Zyle looks like a kid with a blackeye, not a kid who just had HEAD SURGERY THREE DAYS AGO! (Love that comment, Jim!). The right side of his face is hardly swollen at all now, while the left side is severely bruised. When we got home yesterday he was still unsteady on his feet. Today he is walking without wobbles. He and his brother sat together for awhile, and Jex let him play "push brother" without pushing back.
And I guess we never offered him milk yesterday at the hospital, because when Granny gave him some last night he gulped it down. Hard to believe that just yesterday morning he wasn't even drinking the clear liquids yet.
Gotta find the ointment, which we are to apply with a light touch to his incision site twice daily. This afternoon, shampoo!
Special note to Redbud: Doctor's recommendation is not to go back to school until he is checked out at the post-op appointments, which Seth will schedule today. If Zyle's incision site completely heals before then, we might discuss it with the docs by telephone. But it could be the first Monday in January before he is back in class. He will look at the poster of all the children's pictures in the meantime!

Maddy has abbreviated to "Z-bear" now! Where in the world did she get that? :)
ReplyDeleteGlad you ALL got some rest. The Redbuds will be waiting! Tell Zyle I miss his high-fives!
