It has begun. Sort of.

We got to CHOA at 6:05, to a waiting room full of parents and kids. Zyle had a great time tossing a ball around and looking at us and holding out hands to say "Where is it?" while looking directly at the ball.

We made it to the personal waiting room (where we will be for the next 4 hours) by 7 am. Lots people came to visit - the anesthesiologist's nurse, the anesthesiologist, the plastic surgeon, the neurgosurgeon, a personal care nurse. Zyle once again hated having pulse and blood pressure taken. At least no blood work this time.

Pam will blog about our understanding of the blood.

Zyle didn't want to wear his gown, he was happily playing with the light switch in only a diaper.

After giving a sedative, Zyle looked loopy and stoned. He was very amusing!

They took him away at 8:27. Watching the nurse carry him down the hall away from us, with him wimpering, was one of the saddest moments of my life.

They called moments ago to say that they started surgery around 9:30.

Now the waiting begins.
