Neurosurgeon August 27

Got a call from the pediatrician, who had talked to the neurosurgeon. Then the neurosurgeon's office called us to move the appointment up. Our pediatrician emphasized that we shouldn't think this means it is so urgent that we should be rushing to get it done. It just means that they agreed they have some anxious parents who have lots of questions and it's a good idea to get us in there and start talking about them.

I am absolutely convinced there has been no neurological damage so far to Zyle. I see how he develops on a daily basis. He walked the same age as his brother first did. He communicates well with us even though he doesn't speak words like the girls (and some of the boys) in his class. I've seen no regression in his abilities. He is clearly learning and adding to his repertoire of skills. Yet the past few days I have started to feel like we are on borrowed time: how long will it be before restricted brain growth space has a negative effect?

So I'm glad for the appointment, which will take place next week Thursday.

Today is Zyle's 16-month birthday.

This video is his response to last night's entertainment.
